Distinguishing Features of Pulsar Generators

  • Power range– Pulsar generators’ power output ranges from 1200w to 15000w.
  • Design– Most of these generators are characterized by a blend of gray matte and black colors. This is good if you don’t want a brightly colored generator for your construction site.
  • Solidly built for portability– despite their lower price tags, most Pulsar generators seem solidly built. We rarely come across complaints of loose parts. Also, most of them (not all) have foldable handles and never-flat tires for mobility.
  • Dual fuel technology– it’s amazing that Pulsar offers dual fuel options with some of its generators despite its price range. For generators that don’t feature this convenience out of the box, there is an option to add a dual fuel kit later.
  • Low noise output– going through most Pulsar generator reviews, you’ll realize that these engines are relatively quiet compared to competitor brands. Of course, you should expect higher noise levels with bigger models.
  • A straightforward control panel– whether you’re eyeing a traditional open-frame or inverter generator, Pulsar products generally feature a straightforward interface designed for ease of use.

Pricing

As mentioned before, Pulsar offers some of the most inexpensive generators on the market today. The price gets higher as you seek more power output, but you’ll be paying much less than you’d spend on similarly sized competitor brands regardless. The average price for a Pulsar generator is around $859. The most affordable Pulsar generator sells for around $130 while the priciest goes for about $2700.

Are Pulsar Generators Good?

Pulsar generators are a recommendable investment for people on a budget and those who don’t want to spend a lot on a generator. These power products are generally sturdily built and are designed with portability in mind. Most of the heavy models come with a reliable wheelbase with never-flat tires and a foldable handle. Some of these generators don’t have these mobility accessories, so check beforehand if they matter to you.

Pulsar generators come in 3 major categories- traditional open frame, inverter, and dual-fuel generators. Importantly, some of the single-fuel generators offer the option of adding a dual-fuel kit later.

We appreciate that most stores around the USA carry Pulsar generators and their replacements too. So, repairing and maintaining the product won’t be another struggle.

Pros

  • Comparatively affordable
  • Replacement parts are easy to find
  • Control panel has basic features, and it’s easy to use

  • These generators are sturdily built and designed with portability in mind
  • A few of them have dual-fuel configurations. For those that lack this versatility, there’s an option to add a dual fuel kit
  • Inverter generators are relatively quiet

Cons

  • The stickers tend to peel off with time
  • Some of the high-power open-frame generators can get loud
  • Basic control panel means that most of the controls are left out. Check the available outlets and controls beforehand.

  1. I bought the 7500W generator for an ice storm we had in 2018. I powered all the lights and the 220V heater for the house all at the same time. The whole neighborhood was dark but me and my boys sat and played PS4 like normal. The power was out for 5 days and it never gave me a minutes trouble. I still have it and use it often. I would buy another one when the time comes.

    1. Hi Ben,

      Thank you for your comment!

It’s great to hear you had such a positive experience with your Pulsar generator.

Hope it will serve you well for many years ahead! 🙂

  2. Your generator would be a reliable source of power if it weren’t for the small things that failed. For example the first part to fail was a governor spring then choke lever broke then the coil starter rope kept braking then the internal parts of the coil starter crumbled now the throttle on top the carburetor where the governor rod goes is broke. WTF!!! How can you call this a reliable source of power. I am very unhappy with this product.

  3. About a month ago I purchased a PG7500 from a individual that had bought it several months prior for a storm that never hit. Unit had never been taken out of its plastic nor had its initial fire up. So we unwrapped it , went through all procedures . Unit fired up very nicely so I bought it.. I run a mobile marine repair company and this unit seemed to be the perfect fit at a great price . The unit had been ran for a total of 5.5 hrs and started having serious top end noise. I shut the unit down, checked all key items and went to fire the unit back up and it literally blew the entire carburetor/linkages clean off the engine . I’ve built idk how many hundreds of engines, repaired thousands. ASE master tech on top of many other certs and I flat out don’t have a explanation as to why This unit suffered such a catastrophic failure and obviously I am now out all that money and simply felt compelled to share my story take from it what you will.

  4. Bought this unit in December of 2020. Didn’t use it until hurricane Ian hit on the 28th of September 2022. I ran it for 3-4 hours let it rest for 3-4 hours on ethanol free gas for 4 straight days. Worked like a champ not a problem. Powered up all of my house except the central air, but I knew it couldn’t that when I bought it. I keep a small trickle charger on it at all times and the battery always fires right up. All my neighbors were bringing their phones to me to charge and all my neighbors came every morning to our house for their coffee. This generator was muled for 4 straight days and never disappointed.
